Our Backroadz SUV Tent is designed with a universal vehicle sleeve to accommodate virtually all CUV’s, SUV’s and minivans
The universal vehicle sleeve has an elastic band at the end creating a custom fit to your vehicle. The adjustable wheel well and trunk straps ensure a snug fit to your vehicle and the fabric flaps on the inside of the sleeve help seal any minor gaps caused by a curvy vehicle.
Yes. For the initial set-up however, we do recommend having assistance.
Yes. To ensure the best fit possible, we recommend our larger SUV Tents (82000, 84000, 13100, and 19100).
Yes. As long as the height from the ground to the highest point of the cap window/door does not exceed 80”, SUV Tents are compatible.
Please refer to the Warranty section on the website.
Yes, as long as the circumference of the trailer opening does not exceed 210”.
Angle one of the awning poles so that the water will run off and not pool. Angle the bottom of the pole one way and peg out the other way. If you are leaving the campsite, it’s best to set-up camp for rain, just in case. Put away equipment, zip up all tent windows and doors, use the rainfly. Zip or roll up the awning. If it’s raining a lot, we would suggest not to use the canopy.
Our tents already have a water-resistant coating on them. However, the coating may wear down over time and you may want to spray a water repellent coating onto the tent and rainfly after a few years of use.
A seam sealer is not necessary. Our rainflies and truck tent floors have taped seams to guard against water entry. For additional protection and product maintenance, you may wish to use a seam sealant on your tent. Please note that water drops through the needle holes along the seams is common with all tents and is not a manufacturer’s defect.
There is a one-year manufacturer defect warranty. Please consult the Warranty section on the website.

Well, the second time I used the tent and one of the poles broke at the supposed steel junction points. Thank goodness a person camping nearby had some duct tape to keep it from failing completely. Not happy with this any way I can get support or a new pole?

I would have given my backroadz tent 5 stars until I used it in the rain. Very disappointed. The seams at the bottom leaked all the way around and water poured in like a waterfall from the sleeve area over my hatch. Thankfully I had 2 pool noodles to put between my car bumper and the tent to keep the water from flowing inside the tent. I use magnets to hold the sleeve against my car. Customer service was not much help. I sent every picture they requested and they did say the water should not have come in but they provided no solutions. This was an extravagant purchase for me and I feel like I have just wasted my money. I can only use it when there’s no rain in the forecast.

Do you make a smaller SUV tent?
I’m single and this one is way to big for me.
I think on that was just a bit higher than the tailgate would appropriate!
Thanks,

Good customer service but…after 2 failures on the original tent: the seam of the tent skin leaked water and then the collar on the tent pole deformed and would not hold its fiberglass insert anymore. I took our Napier Backroads tent out camping this weekend using the new tent pole and tent skin Napier Customer Service so kindly provided. This is only the 4th time we have used it as we had purchased it only a little more than a year ago. In conditions with no rain and very little wind – but sheltered in trees – the new pole snapped and splintered, which then shredded the new tent skin. ugh. This is laughable if it weren’t so frustrating.
We appreciate the design as it fit very well around our vehicle and our camper but I can’t think of a worse example of poor materials on a tent. Everything was sub-standard and it showed in its poor performance. I send this to your company in hopes that Napier will take my comments in to consideration and FIX THE #%@! problems. I think it only fair that I post this review so that others won’t waste their money.July 6, 2022 -

I have this tent, and I really like it — except for one major problem: the “car side” cannot be closed up in order to use the tent “stand-alone”.
So far, I have used this tent only by itself (not attached to my SUV). And in the rain it just doesn’t work. When shopping for a tent the backroadz blurb said it could be used stand-alone; well that’s true as long as the weather stays dry. The ad was a bit misleading and as much as I love everything else about this tent, the lack of a rain fly of some sort for the fourth side is a real problem.Hey Napier! Design a separate zip-only fly for this!
