FAQs

Yes. One person is able to set up a Napier Truck Tent, however we do recommend having assistance during the first set-up. The first set-up should take approximately 15 minutes and about 10 minutes each time thereafter. Each tent comes with set-up instructions and color-coded poles for easy assembly.

Our tents already have a water-resistant coating on them. However, the coating may wear down over time and you may want to spray a water repellent coating onto the tent and rainfly after a few years of use. For additional protection and product maintenance, you may wish to use a seam sealant on your tent.

You will love SUV camping with this tent!

I absolutely love this tent! At 5’2”, I was able to set it up completely by myself, although having a second person does make it a bit easier. Attaching the tent to my SUV was quick and simple, and it disconnects just as easily if you need to drive your vehicle during your camping trip.

On my first night camping, I experienced a severe thunderstorm. I was grateful to be able to stay safely inside my SUV while the tent kept all of my gear completely dry. Another feature I appreciated was being able to leave my bike rack installed, which provided a convenient place to hang clothes and towels. A 9’ x 9’ outdoor rug fits perfectly inside the tent to give it a cozy, homey feel.

The attached screen room is a fantastic bonus, offering extra space to relax and keep bugs out. I also highly recommend purchasing the custom floor tarp, as it adds extra protection and helps keep the tent clean.

Overall, this tent is well-designed, easy to use, and has made camping much more enjoyable.

Camping in Comfort

We camped in high heat and rain with this tent and were very pleased with how much comfort it offered us through both climates. It was easy to set up and pack away, and we LOVED that everything fit back into the bag without struggle. A nice little touch was that the instructions were attached to the inside of the bag so that they couldn't get misplaced. The awning and screen room really enhanced our campsite and gave us plenty of options for storage our things when it rained. The interior of the tent easy fit a queen size mattress, with room to spare. There was plenty of room for the two of us to camp in comfort and can't wait to take it out again soon!

Vehicle sleeve is not even marginally water repellant

First time using the product and I had water coming in all over the sleeve, even on the side panels. Customer service said it is only water repellant and that I could buy a waterproofing product and treat it myself. I have camped for over 40 years and there is no way the sleeve is waterproof. Too bad they cheaped out on the sleeve (or had a bad batch of material) as otherwise i really would like this tent.

First Time Setup

Sportz SUV Trent with Screen Room first time using-

First thing we noticed was the obvious quality of our tent materials compared to others we've had. Also, small details like little bags over the 'corner ends' were apparent in several places. The 'vehicle chute' is heavy duty and very well thought out as to assuring its snug fit. We're installing over the open doors of a cargo trailer type RV and using all the straps were able to get a nice fit, something we were concerned about as we couldn't find info about this being done. For me, the fact that Napier provides a 'carrying/storage' bag large enough that the tent will actually fit back in to was great! Also, providing instructions attached to the bag-permanently with special paper was a first. So, first time comments- nothing but 'positives'.

One question though- we were able to get our tent back in the bag but did a poor job of rolling it back up- any videos or ideas for best way to 'roll the tent' back up.

Arrived on time and will make a nice Christmas present!

Great, but one minor flaw

The setup is a little complex and we somehow missed a step on our "trial run" in the back yard. The construction seems solid and once we figured out our error, the setup is reasonably easy. The only flaw was that the stitching for one of the screen panel zippers caught a bit of the screen material, causing the zipper to be unable to work unless a small tear was created in the screen mesh. It's a minor thing and only created about a 1/4" hole in the screen, so it's not worth trying to ship a 50+ lb tent back for exchange.
