Sportz SUV Tent

I really like the ease of set up. I sprayed with waterproofing stain repellent. (I would suggest you bring tape, should you need it, where it attaches at the hatchback). We were not in a bug infested area, so we had no issues and we also had a Thermacell. We use the tent for our kitchen/ bathroom, and we sleep in the SUV. Glamping! Love it.

My daughter and I set this up a total of 3 times this summer on the beautiful Island of Haida Gwaii. It was an easy assembly after watching YouTube videos (My preference, to looking at a diagram).We probably setup camp in about half an hour. Dismantling was fast as well. Other than a slight zipper imperfection (did not affect its use at all) I recommend this product.

I’m a 64-year-old woman and it took me all of 15 minutes to put it together after watching a YouTube video. Love it so roomy,Now the true test this weekend, I’ll Be Back🤞🤞Well it was amazing 3 nights no issues setup was easy Peezy. My only issue was my battery died. Couldn’t figure out how to disconnect the trunk being left open continuously. 👍

I loved this tent! We took it out to the desert and hooked it up to my 2020 Honda CRV. This was our first time setting it up and we had to do it by flashlight since we arrived after dark. Under these conditions it took us about 20 minutes, but next time I know we will put it up in less than 10 minutes . . . the directions are very easy to follow.It was great at giving us an area to stretch out and put our gear, while keeping the bugs away. The sock that encloses the hatchback fit perfectly and when we went to breakfast in the morning, we just took off the connector, zipped up the tent and drove away.This particular model is for small/medium SUVs, so make sure you are buying the right model for your vehicle. Can’t speak to the durability of it yet, but I hope it lasts a longer time!!

Excellent tent. Able to relax in a dry, bug-free area while sleeping on an air mattress in the bed of a truck.A lot of people ask "will it fit my vehicle" questions (examples of vehicles are on the Napier site). We used this with a 4WD Ford F250 that has a cab-height canopy. The bonnet wraps nicely around the canopy, but it was approaching the limit for size. With the bonnet on, we were able to open the rear canopy window. The longest straps did not reach the front of the truck, so we hooked them to the lower lip of the truck bed just behind the cab. The side straps fit fine at the wheel wells. The bonnet opening is just large enough for a full-width tailgate to fit through.Tent is very well constructed. The floor is made of a tarp-like material, and wraps up the side about 6 inches to help keep water out. Doors on driver side and at the rear. Window-only on passenger side. Bonnet door at tailgate. All doors and windows have zippered privacy flaps (including bonnet side). Top has 3 vented panels that do not have covers. There is a separate rain fly that covers top panels and 3 sides to the ground, with zippered sides that can be opened. The rain fly does not cover the bonnet area. The rain fly adds privacy and helps keep the test warmer on a cool day.Setup can be done with a single person, but easier with two, and takes just a few minutes. 4 Solid fiberglass poles provide the structure for the roof, and 4 metal poles provide the vertical support on the corners. Heavily constructed plastic pieces connect the 4 fiberglass poles in the center, and the fiberglass to metal poles in the corners.Tent does not need to be staked since it is attached to vehicle, but should probably be staked if there is nothing inside weighting it down. Tent is definitely heavy, so it's not practical for packing very far, though it can be used stand-alone (without vehicle). Comes with a properly sized zippered duffle bag with carrying handles, and stores neatly.

Early review: we haven’t got to use this much yet, I’ll add to the review later. But this is a really neat tent!!It fits a 2013 F150 (6.5 ft bed) with a cab heights Jeraco cap perfectly. It was easy to set up and take down, and the bag it comes with can extend to make sure it all fits.We had the thought that our exhaust pipe doesn’t go out the back end of the truck, not sure if it’ll make a difference in how it fits, but we don't have to worry about the heat from it ruining the tent.One thing I miss understood is that the 9x9 does not come with the screened in room. Also the canopy is a part of the rain fly, not the tent. Something to keep in mind.First Trip review: This is a fantastic tent and you should get one. We had no rain, so can’t comment on that. But the tent itself is very well made and thought out. We had it set up in maybe ten minutes. As of now I have no cons. It added space, air flow and functionality to our truck set up. Really love this thing!Another Rainy Trip Review: We took this tent on a multistate trip with our 2014 Jeep Compass. While in NH we met some rain. Not a storm but a moderate downpour. We would have been SOAKED if it wasn't for the preparations we made. I was VERY disappointed in the seems, you could see the water coming in. There was some water coming in from the area attached to the car, which was easily fixed. But ALOT of water came through the triangular seems on the other side of the tent.Since that trip I have sprayed waterproof twice and resealed the seems the best i could. we'll see how it goes.I will also add that my dogs ear was cut and began bleeding, and she shook her head and blood got on the tent. It cleaned up REALLY REALLY well, you can't even tell it happened. Very impressed on how easy it is to wipe down.Another trip review:We took this tent on another trip this year. We met quite a bit of rain and the tent is still getting watered down a bit. We have found that since the side that attaches to the vehicle does not have the addition of the rain fly, those seems tend to allow water in. Fixed with a tarp attached to the truck and the tent.We did find that the doors are not on the correct side for most campsites. The doors face away from where campers doors usually are set up. To get into the tent you have to go around the back or to the complete other side. Not a huge deal but lacks privacy and if you're in a small site then you would probably have difficulty using the doors. That goes for the canopy as well.

UPDATE: 10/08/2019I just returned from 7 days of camping using the tent, I stayed in multiple locations to a lot of up and down. The tent held up really well! I am still very pleased with it. I have 2 small issues. I didn't receive the cargo net. I will reach out to the vendor on that. Also. There are two small hole on the rain fly where it goes over the poles. I don't know if it is just a weak piece of material or what. I am truly VERY happy I purchased this tent!!!I will apologize upfront for the long review. I read reviews to help decide on purchases and I am being detailed and honest here. :)Though I was hesitant to spend the cost of this tent I am very pleased with it, so far. Other then a small flaw in one of the screens and one of the poles was scuffed. Everything set up and went together well. I was really pleased with the interior space and headroom. It doesn't feel cramped at all. The 2 doors and window are large and the zippers seem very sturdy. A note: if you use it for a standalone tent, the rainfly will NOT cover the side where it would normally attach to the vehicle.For the price there are a couple of things I wish Napier include; a stuff bag for the rainfly (sometime you might not want to use it and a separate bag would be nice. A bag for the awing cords and grommets. Maybe a slightly bigger bag. I couldn't get all the parts back in the bag provided even with the extension (That being said the extension is really nice. I just set it up in my driveway to see how difficult it would be for one person. It wasn't difficult at all and I'm sure I'll get faster the more I use it. Now to get a ground tarp for it.

The photo is the first setup before the camp trip to check for tears, rips, setup familiarity, and function. We had a storm blow through and it held up pretty good. Because we have suicide doors and not a hatch, water was able to puddle on top of the beige connector and seep through. Our solution was to tie a rope around it to cinch it so the water could run off the sides. Our suicide doors stayed open and never became an issue even when the storm was blowing pretty hard.Besides the storm water issue, it's perfect.We're in our mid 50's and sleeping on the ground just isn't the best for our backs. We've wanted this for a while, so we could sleep on a bed in the SUV and put the dogs and "living room" in the tent. It's a two room tent basically.At the site, very easy to disconnect from the SUV and seal up. Hubs is 6' and loved the height and his ability to stretch inside. I'm 5'2 and relied on him more than usual for setup and then more for the homemaking like putting up the fairy lights and hanging lights. We used to have a center light we could hang that had a switch on it. I can't reach it in this tent, so we had to hang it lower, but then it was in his way. I really loved being able to wake up, crawl out of bed, and walk around the "living room" in my pj's in complete privacy.It's a give and take with Mutt & Jeff. Either he hunching inside the old tent and unable to stand upright, or he's having to turn the lights on and off for me in the new tent. Small price to pay for everyones comfort.Overall we are quite satisfied. This fit my 2021 Highlander well, was fairly simple to set up and I could do it myself in about 20ish minutes.It’s maiden voyage was an incredibly rainy weekend. It rained pretty much non stop. At first I thought the rain fly was bomber and wouldn’t have any issues but for the life of me- I can’t figure out why they didn’t extend a piece of the rain fly to go OVER the sleeve that fits to your vehicle. Water runs down and comes right through the zippered seam of the sleeve and puddles in the tent. I had to constantly mop up water until I finally put another tarp completely over the entire tent and car. That fixed the water leaking for that trip at least.Definitely will need to buy some seam sealant and tent waterproofing and I am considering purchasing an additional rain fly to go over the tent/car as a back up anyway.The only other gripe I have is that there are two awnings, it would be great to have enough poles to have them both out at the same time. They only give you the one set. So I’ll be purchasing another generic set of poles.Love all the room inside. Even put up my daughters little tent inside to sleep in and o slept in the back of my car.Overall I am pleased with the purchase

Outstanding tent and easy to use. I love this tent and can set it up by myself, I’ll be 70 later this year. It’s great in wind and rain. It’s 7 feet tall inside so standing up is not a problem. I can detach easily, it’s 4 clips.

Broken poles!! My husband couldn't even connect the bottom of the poles to the holes at the base!

We did a 1 week test run with our Sportz SUV tent and it was definitely a test. Three days of wind with some 48 mph wind gusts and 3 days of off and on rainy weather. The tent stayed dry as a bone and held firm in the high winds. I’m 67 and my husband is 73. If we can do it, anyone can.
